Stephen Ray Perry, alias Steve Perry, is borned on the 22nd of january 1949 in Hanford (California, USA), in a Portuguese family.

Very soon, he developpe interest for music he discover at college in holding the drums in a marching band, then in joining the college's choir, at Visalia (California).

He begin a musicale career at around 25 years old. After playing in the Alien project group, he decide to get into solo without really finding succes.

Walter Herbert, the Journey group's manager who heard a demo from Alien project, is seduced by the voice of the young man, he find it better than the one of the actual group's singer, Robert Fleischman. Herbert convoke the young man at San Francisco, but the audition can't be done.

The opportunity occur again later, secretly from Robert Fleischman, during a balance's seance in preparation of a concert at San Diego (California). This evening, the Steve's musical performance enchanted the others Journey groupe's members.

From 1977 to 1996, Steve Perry has been the Journey's lead singer on several albums: Infinity (1978), Evolution (1979), Departure (1980), Dream After Dream (1980, soundtrack of a japenes film), Escape (1981), Frontiers (1983), Raised on Radio (1986) and Trial By Fire (1996), together with two solo albums Street talk (1984) and For the love of strange medicine (1994).

In 1985, he share in the organization of the album We Are The World from USA for Africa (United Support of Artists for Africa), a group of 44 American artistes, managed by Harry Belafonte, Kenny Rogers, Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie. On the 28th of january 1985, they record the song We Are The World. More than seven and a half millions of discs are sold and the title received the Grammy Award of the years song. We Are The World remain the humanitarian disc the most sold of all the times. The Steve's song, If Only for the Moment, Girl, appear on the album.

In 1996, Steve leave Journey. The fans solicited his come back inside the group, but this request has been declined by the singer...

In 1998, he appears for two songs in the soundtrack of the film Quest of Camelot at the sides of Bryan White.

Since this time, Steve Perry appear on productions of albums or sign the composition of hymns on the occasion of American base-ball league's opening ceremonies especially.

In 2005, the Hollywood Walk of Fame honored Journey with their own star. Not knowing if "The Voice" would show up the eve of his 56 years old birthday, fans lined the street just in case. And out of the middle of nowhere, The Man, The Legend himself came. There is no one on this Earth that deserved that star more than Journey and our very own Steve Perry.

In 2007, Steve Perry appear as singer and producer of the album Symphony of Voices where we find I Can See It in Your Eyes, a Journey group's remake. The buckle is buckled!

Anyway and despite a dotted career, Steve Perry remain one of the top, one of the references voice of the 80's-90's west coast music with some hits like Foolish Heart, Oh Sherrie and lot of others... Stephen got a name for himself, "The Voice", a nickname he still share to this day for everyone in the world with Frank Sinatra, Garth Brooks, Jackson Browne, Whitney Houston and Russell Watson.

This shy young man was on his way to being the most amazing singer in the history of Arena Rock. The people were there to see the most gorgeous man alive and to hear his angel like voice. He could sing anything and everything. The people filled up stadium after stadium, night after night. Steve will always be loved and will be missed more and more...
